I'm no coffee specialist, but I'm pretty demanding when it comes to the qualities that I like in my coffee. Rich. Nicely roasted and balanced. Full flavored. If you don't like any of those characteristics, then this review won't do much for you. Anyway, I'm pretty tired of Starbucks. It's overly roasted, almost to a burnt sensation, and drips a bit too much with bitterness. I tolerate it because most of the other coffee vendors in the area sell watered down garbage. A little while back, Melitta was offered on Vine and I figured, why not give it a try. Boiling water, 4 minutes in a french press, and some milk and sugar, and I'm in business. Surprisingly, it was a great cup of coffee. Nice depth, a lovely balanced and almost creamy texture, great roast, and not exceedingly bitter or sludgy. The real test now is for me to do a head to head against my current favorite go-to: Illy. I have a feeling that Melitta may hold up pretty well.

I am a true coffee lover and it is my favorite beverage morning or night. I enjoy brewing coffee at home and buy a variety of brands in varying price points. After reading the description of the Melitta Cafe Collection I was excited to brew it. I was extremely disappointed by how stale the coffee smelled when I opened the bag and was not impressed by the flavor after I brewed it. It tasted like a pouch of hotel coffee, no flavor, stale and bad aroma. The packaging looks upscale and is a great price but unfortunately the coffee was not good, I had to throw it away.

Let me preface by writing that I like to drink strong coffee that has a nice flavor. I drink my coffee black and I make it using a French press. I normally drink Illy coffee but decided to give the Melitta Vienna Roast coffee a try.

The coffee is finely ground and dark and has an aroma which is a bit bitter. I found that I needed to add more coffee into my French press than I would with my normal coffee to try to achieve some flavor in the coffee. I was pleased to find that even when I made the coffee very strong, the coffee taste was smooth and not at all bitter as can happen with some coffees. I was disappointed to find that even when I made my coffee very strong, it lacked a distinct flavor. It was nice, but I was looking for something more favorable. Also adding so much of the ground coffee into the French press to try to achieve a strong flavor really give the coffee a much stronger caffeine kick that I was used to getting.

Overall, a coffee that is nice and smooth and not bitter just as Melitta promises, even when you make your coffee with add a lot of coffee grinds. However, I was disappointed with the lack of strong flavors in the coffee. It wouldn't be my first choice for my own cup of joe, but I wouldn't hesitate to serve it to people who don't like strong coffee.

I wasn't too sure about trying this coffee, since I have found Melitta in a can to have a "tinny" flavor, but this is a delicious, mellow drink that stayed flavorful even when reheated. It is listed as a dark roast, but I found it to have more of a medium richness, a plus in my opinion, but may not be strong enough for those who like a truly dark roast cup. It was not bitter, and when I opened the package, the scent was heaven! I will be buying more of this coffee!

I normally make my coffee with course ground beans in my french press but when I had the chance to try Melitta's Vienna Roast Extra Fine Ground Coffee, I put my press away and pulled out my old Krups coffee maker. I followed the directions of 2 teaspoons of coffee to 6 ounces of water but it ended up too strong for me. The next time I made it I used the same messurment for 8 ounces of water. It was still a little strong for me but a little sugar and milk made it more to my liking. After drinking the Vienna Roast the last two weeks I've come to the conclusion I'm not the biggest fan for dark roasts. It's just too robust of a flavor for me. If you use a regular coffee maker and like finely ground coffee with a bold flavor, give this a chance.

I was a little worried when i first received this coffee ... afraid that it would be some weird sweetened coffee.

My concern was unwarranted.

This coffee has a light vanilla aroma that makes the whole house smell nice (assuming you like having a coffee smell throughout your house). Taste-wise it is very mild yet not wimpy, very much like a "breakfast blend" from any quality brand. Definitely not bitter at all.

The flavoring is there, but not overpowering.

Overall, I really enjoyed this coffee.

As a fan of flavored coffees, I was excited to see this as an Amazon Vine selection. I have been trying to diversify my coffee rotation, but so far, I am only a huge fan of Caribou brand Columbia and Dunkin Donuts brand Cinnamon Spice. After tasting this, I will definitely be looking to try more Melitta brand coffees if I see them in stores, especially since the Caribou brand is becoming harder to find, for some reason.

This coffee is very smooth tasting. I don't understand how some of the reviewers found it burnt and bitter. In fact, I had assumed from the taste that it was a light roast. I don't like bitter coffee, which is exactly why I avoid dark roasts. Additionally, this coffee has a very nice flavor. Some flavored coffees are so weak that you can't even tell they're flavored. Not the case here.

There were a couple of things I didn't like. I would have preferred the coffee to be less finely ground, since I use a coffee press. But I have a strainer I can run it through when I pour it into my cup, so I guess that's a minor inconvenience. However, companies need to take into consideration that not everyone uses a filtered coffee maker. Having the option of coarser grinds would be appreciated. Secondly, the glue used to seal the bag was so strong that I had to cut it open with a pair of scissors, ruining the bag and making it kind of pointless for the bag to have re-sealable tabs.

Melitta has hit a home run with their Parisian Vanilla flavored ground coffee. As soon as you open the bag, you're hit with a nice burst of fragrant vanilla scent, paired with the delicious smell that (for me, at least), promises a bright start to your day.

The Parisian vanilla flavor is strong enough to be noticeable, but subtle enough to not overpower the coffee flavor that I crave to get me going in the morning. It complements other flavors that are added with it, as well, so if you've got a favorite Hazelnut creamer that you're worried this will clash with, don't. The vanilla flavor in this coffee plays well with others.

The coffee itself brews up sweet, strong, and not at all bitter. Melitta has created a collection that just gives you a good cup of joe to start your day with. And with flavor this rich, you just might find yourself leaving that sugar bowl alone. You really don't need it with this flavor in Melitta's Cafe Collection!

This is less traditional coffee and more flavored drink like you'd get from a large coffee shop - filled with milk, etc. - except it's just coffee. The smell is extremely strong and the taste is similar - you get a lot of vanilla with some small coffee hints in the background.

If you're interested in strong vanilla, this is it. If you want spectacular coffee, it'll make it - but it won't taste like coffee.
